International symposium for improving your academic writing skills

ABOUT THE SYMPOSIUM

We are pleased to announce our third international WRITING FOR JOURNAL PUBLICATION symposium designed to help you im prove your English writing skills and get your research published in international scientific journals.

Get personal coaching on your academic writing. Improve your academic writing skills. Finalize your academic journal article. Get published!

Sign up to our third international writing symposium dedicated to making you a more qualified academic writer!

Over five days you work closely together with a professional writing coach to finalize your academic article for journal publication. You get focused 1-1 writing coaching on your academic writing (writing skills and writing style), and you get feedback from peer reviewers (other participants). You attend lectures and workshops on journal publication and academic writing, all arranged to help you improve your writing skills and increase your publication rate.

Writing for Journal Publication is led by 3 professional writing coaches with years of international academic experience.

WRITING COACHES

Lynn P. Nygaard
Lynn is American and has more than a decade of experience as an author’s editor for scholars, helping academics from all disciplines formulate their ideas and prepare their work for publication. In addition to several years of freelance experience, she was employed full-time as an editorial advisor at CICERO (Center for International Climate and Environmental Research – Oslo) for more than nine years. She currently works at PRIO (the International Peace Research Institute, Oslo) as a special advisor for project development and publications. She has a BA from the University of California at Berkeley, and a Master’s degree in political science from the University of Oslo. She regularly holds workshops on scholarly writing and grant writing, and has recently published the book “Writing for Scholars: A Practical Guide to Making Sense and Being Heard” (a free copy is included for participants).

Angela Dove
Angela is from England and is a published writer and experienced in proofreading, redrafting and editing. She is presently working on her first novel. Current work includes an ongoing writing mentoring scheme involving working individually with writers and in a workshop context. For the past decade she has been a consultant for the cultural sector, working with many organisations including The BBC, The Museums Libraries and Archives Council, and English Heritage. She is a trainer for the Chartered Institute of Information Professionals. Since 2002 as visiting lecturer at The Cass Business School, City University London, she is actively involved in research including writing academic papers, as well as teaching and learning innovation.

Eamonn McDonagh
Eamonn is from Ireland and has more than 20 years of experience in English language teaching in language institutes, schools and universities in Argentina, Italy, Turkey, Korea, the Netherlands and the UK. He took a degree in History and Political Science from the National University of Ireland, Galway and later received an MA in TEFL from the University of Reading in the UK. He has been based in Buenos Aires since 1999. The teaching of writing, especially academic writing, has long been one of his central professional interests. While at the Technical University of Delft (January 2003 – June 2005) he taught academic writing courses and ran writing workshops aimed at both faculty members and postgraduate students.

SYMPOSIUM FEE

2,100 EURO.

Symposium fee includes:

* line editing of your academic journal article
* language editing of your academic journal article
* personal writing coaching

* accomodation in double room (single use) with private balcony and full seaview
* full board (breakfast buffet, lunch, dinner)
* all softdrinks, tea, coffee, juice, water
* fresh fruits ad lib
* participation in social program

* free internet access
* free bus shuttle from Aghia Marina town and harbour in the period from Sunday September 9 to Friday September 14, 2012.

Absolutely no extra charges are added to your symposium participation.

Early bird rate: 1,800 EURO. Sign up and pay your symposium fee before May 1, 2012 to make use of the early bird rate.

PARTICIPANTS

To give you full value for money and to facilitate an encouraging work environment, we only accept 15 participants at the symposium.

The symposium targets academics within social science.

REGISTRATION

Complete the online form to sign up for the symposium. DEADLINE for registration: June 1, 2012 [see early bird details].

When you complete the online form, we send you an invoice and a full registration form, which you need to sign and mail back to us: lihesupport@gmail.com. Once you have done this and paid your registration fee, you are accepted for the symposium.
